A Future of war
by Georgeanne Koehler

On Oct.8th my vote for Barrack Obama was set in stone when I heard Mitt Romney's foreign policy speech at the Virginia Military academy. it is a speech that has little to do with me but everything to do with our children. He spoke about our role in Syria,Libya,Russia and China. he said he believes we left Iraq to soon and seemed to question the 2014 date of withdrawing our troops from Afghanistan. He talked about Iran and he drew that red-line at nuclear weapons capability. He said he plans on building 15 warships a year and will put these ships in the Gulf and the Mediterranean Sea.

When that speech ended, I thought of the youth of America. The Afghanistan War is now a 12 year old war. Many of our troops fighting in that war were children when it started. My worry is that we will kiss our children good night and in a blink of an eye we will be waving goodbye as they go off to war in a far-off land whose people will never accept democracy as their way of life.

(the bit above is a little politically incorrect)

I also cannot help but think about how all the money we spend on sending our kids to war could instead be used educate them and keep them healthy (free health care) at home. My suggestion to every parent is look up Mr.Romney's speech and vote your heart, which will always be your children.

Disclaimer
all the bits in parenthesis(?) are mine, but the rest is all Georgeanne Koehler's work.
